Die Hyundai Trading Company wurde 1992 in Korea gegründet und 1996 in eine Aktiengesellschaft mit dem Namen Hyundai Fomex umgewandelt. Der Name Fomex steht für ständige Entwicklung. Aus diesem Grunde expandierte die Firma und gründete Forschnungs- und Entwicklungszentren in Nordamerika, Japan, Europa, Asien und Südamerika.
