Eine Intercom findet Verwendung in Verbindung mit einem Videomischer bei der Aufzeichnung von TV-Shows oder Events. Der Ablaufregisseur informiert über Kabel- oder Funkverbindung den Operator am Mischpult und die Kameramänner an den jeweiligen Kamerazügen, welche Kamera sich im Moment im "On" befindet und welche Kamera als nächste das Bild live auf einen Beamer oder direkt ins Fernsehen übertragen wird. Je nach Anforderung und Gegebenheit der Location werden die Intercomsignale über Kabelwege verlegt, oder es erfolgt eine kabellose Übertragung der Regieanweisungen per Funk. Intercom Systeme wie die DataVideo Intercom ITC-100 garantieren über Talkback eine problemlose Kommunikation zwischen Kontrollraum, Kameramännern, Regisseur und Beleuchtern, und bestehen aus einer zentralen Rack-Einheit, Belt-Backs, Kopfhörern, Mikrofonen und Tally Lights an den Kameras.
